NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Test)

The NIPT is a blood screening test.

The laboratory examines the DNA in the blood for chromosomal abnormalities, which enables us to determine whether the child has Down's, Edwards or Patau's syndrome. The blood from pregnant women contains DNA from the placenta and DNA from the mother. The DNA from the placenta is almost always the same as the DNA of the child.

The NIPT can be done from 10 weeks pregnancy. For more information about the NIPT please see the NIPT brochure or consult PNS.
